The short version: SchengenZen has no account and no ads. Your trips stay on your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. Photos are never uploaded. We never sell your data.
Who we are
SchengenZen is published by DS Maker LTD, a private limited company registered in Cyprus under number HE 465492, VAT CY60100946O, with registered office at Efesou 9, 5280 Paralimni, Famagusta, Cyprus. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].
Data that stays on your device
- Trips and days. The countries and dates you add, or that the app records, are stored on your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are also stored in your private iCloud database, which only you can access. We cannot see it.
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your iPhone's location to work out which country you are in each day. The country is determined on your device with built-in borders; only points very close to a border may be checked with Apple's map service. We do not receive your location.
- Photos. If you choose to rebuild trips from photos, the app reads only the date and place stored with each photo, on your iPhone. The pictures themselves are never read, uploaded or downloaded from iCloud.
- People. Names and flags you add for other travellers are stored the same way as your trips.
Data we receive
- Anonymous usage statistics. We use PostHog to count which screens and features are used, to fix problems and improve the app. These events are not linked to your name or email, and we do not use them for advertising.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, and we use RevenueCat to manage them. We never see your card details. We receive an anonymous purchase identifier and the status of your subscription.
- Messages you send us. If you write to us or use the feedback form, we receive what you send, such as your email address and message, and use it only to reply.
This website
schengenzen.com sets no cookies and uses no third-party tracking. Our server keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security for a short period.
Legal basis and sharing
We process data to provide the app you installed (contract), for our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and improving it, and where the law requires it. We share data only with the service providers that make the app run, such as Apple, RevenueCat and PostHog, and only to the extent they need it. We do not sell personal data.
Keeping it and your rights
Trips stay until you delete them. You can erase everything at any time in You → Delete All App Data, which removes your data from your iPhone and your iCloud. Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere, or object to how we use it. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of Cyprus.
Children
SchengenZen is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date above.
